SCOTLAND’S NEW WRITING THEATRE EXHILARATING, CHALLENGING, EXPERIMENTAL

Spring at the Traverse
This season we have three Traverse theatre productions for you, kicking off with Pamela Carter’s (An Argument About Sex, Slope) What We Know in February. Edward Albee’s shocking and funny play The Goat, or Who is Sylvia? will receive its Scottish premiere in April, directed by Dominic Hill. June brings Any Given Day, a poetic and powerful play from Linda McLean (Strangers, babies, Shimmer), one of Scotland’s leading playwrights.
Spring also sees the Traverse welcome back visual theatre festival Manipulate and the Bank of Scotland Imaginate Childrens festival, as well as introduce a month of world premieres!

FONDLY REMEMBERED
We are saddened to hear of the recent passing of two friends – Cordelia Oliver, and James T. Duthie. Cordelia will be known to many as an arts critic for the Guardian and friend of Traverse theatre founders Richard Demarco and Jim Haynes. She was a lifelong supporter and promoter of the arts in Scotland. James, a respected writer of television and theatre whose work included Donal and Sally, brought Greta to the Traverse in 1997 to great critical and commercial success. James and Cordelia will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.
MIDSUMMER AT THE SOHO THEATRE
If you’re in London you can catch our much loved and lauded show Midsummer (a play with songs) at the Soho Theatre from 12 January – 6 February. By David Greig & Gordon MacIntyre, Midsummer tells the story of Bob and Helena and a great lost weekend of bridge burning, car chases, wedding bust ups, bondage miscalculations, midnight trysts and horrible hungover self loathing misery. Visit their website for more information.
Scribble
If you are aged 14-17 years old and interested in creating theatre then Scribble is for you.
Scribble is a brand new playwriting and theatre skills programme which will give you the chance to work with professionals from the Traverse Theatre to discover the skills you need to write a play and help you turn your ideas into a great script! For more information visit our Learning page.
