About

A workshop for writers who want to dive into the details of scene structure.

Acclaimed playwright Ella Hickson (Anna, Swive, Oil) leads a conversational masterclass on how to tackle big ideas by breaking them down into small, achievable chunks. Ella will dive into scene structure, big themes and explore the link between the two, for an informal and - hopefully informative - session that deals with the macro and micro.

Bring an idea and an enthusiasm to discuss structure. The session will be conversational as well as containing practical writing exercises, followed by a Q&A.

This is an interactive workshop, with the option to share your writing as part of the session, though this is not mandatory. All you will need to engage in the participatory element is a working microphone on the device you're using to access the workshop.

A recording of this Q&A will be available to purchase and watch following the live event.

This event is part of our First Stages Festival - a celebration of storytelling and playwriting.

The Traverse Theatre is funded by Creative Scotland and The City of Edinburgh Council, with additional support from The Scottish Government Performing Arts Venues Relief Fund.
