About

Cora Bissett’s hit show returns to the Festival, bursting out of the Traverse walls into the Assembly Music Hall on George Street.

This thrilling slice of gig theatre, written and performed by Cora Bissett, charts her rollercoaster journey from indie-kid hopeful in the 90s to the wised-up woman she is today. Based on her meticulous teenage diaries, the show celebrates the euphoric highs (including touring with Radiohead and partying with Blur) and epic lows of her young life as lead singer in the tipped-for-the-top band Darlingheart, interspersed with the personal losses and gains of her adult life.

Directed by Orla O’Loughlin and performed with a live backing band of actors/musicians Cathryn Archer, Simon Donaldson and Harry Ward, What Girls Are Made Of features a killer setlist studded with songs by 90s indie legends and inspirational female artists – from PJ Harvey to Patti Smith.

Winner: 2018 Scotsman Fringe First award
Winner: Herald Angel Award

Nominee: Best Female Performance, Best Production, Best Music - CATS Awards 2019
