About

"A powerhouse of a band... A fearless and unconventional exploration of traditional music"FOLK RADIO UK

Uplifting, fresh, honest and powerful music created on three fiddles, mandolin and guitar.

Glasgow-based Kinnaris Quintet burst onto the music scene in 2017 with a unique sound. They have produced the perfect concoction of remaining faithful to their traditional roots, whilst pushing the boundaries of tradition, bringing it to the forefront of exciting and modern music.

Expect uplifting, highly emotive, euphoric traditional music, with delicate sparkles of Bluegrass, Scandinavian, Appalachian, and Classical influences.

Unable to hide their joy at making music together, the quintet perform with an enthusiasm that is infectious as anyone who has seen them live will attest. Kinnaris Quintet have become the folk band to see, with sell-out shows and performances at major festivals.

In 2018 the band released their debut album, Free One, to great acclaim, which saw them nominated for various awards including Album of the Year.

Winners of the 2019 Belhaven Bursary for Innovation in Music (the largest financial music prize in Scotland), their imminent performances will include fresh, new music from their eagerly anticipated and forthcoming second album, due for release in 2022.

Part of the Soundhouse Spring 2022 series.
