Recorded in front of a live audience at the Traverse Theatre in October 2022, hosts Hannah and Caitlin are joined by rap trio The Honey Farm, writer and editor Arusa Qureshi, activist and writer Sara Sheridan and also featuring a short play by young feminist playwright Isla Cowan.

Arusa Qureshi is a writer and editor based in Edinburgh, and a passionate advocate for diversity and accessibility within arts and culture. She is the current Editor of Fest and the former Editor of The List and writes mostly about music, most recently Flip the Script – a book about women in UK hip hop, published by 404 Ink. Her work has appeared in the Scotsman, Clash,The Guardian, GoldFlakePaint,Time Out, NME and more. She is on the board of the Scottish Music Centre and is a Trustee of the Saltire Society.

Sara Sheridan has a fascination for uncovering forgotten stories. In 2018 she remapped Scotland according to women’s history to memorialize our forgotten foremothers in her David Hume Award winning book Where are the Women? She has written more than 20 novels. Her 1950s murder mystery series was longlisted this year for the CWA’s prestigious Dagger in the Library Award. Her latest, The Fair Botanists, is set in Edinburgh in 1822.

Isla Cowanis an award-winning playwright and theatre-maker, specialising in eco-feminist performance. Her previous work includes, She Wolf (Assembly Roxy), Alright Sunshine (A Play, a Pie and a Pint @ Òran Mór), World Under Water(Strange Town / Scottish Mental Health Festival), Daphne, or Hellfire(Pleasance; Assembly Roxy), Sno Wite and the 7 Dickensians (Strange Town / Scottish Storytelling Centre), and The View from Portobello (LYT / Royal Lyceum). Isla was selected as one of four playwrights to be mentored at Hampstead Theatre as part of the 2019 INSPIRE Playwrights Programme, mentored by Roy Williams, and was selected as a Traverse Young Writer in 2021. Amongst other projects, Isla is currently under commission with Hopscotch Theatre Company, writing a version of Jack and the Beanstalk with a ‘women in STEM’ theme for their 2022 Panto schools tour.

The Honey Farm rear free-range, farm-fresh, bass-laden rap direct from the East Coast (of Scotland). Since 2016, MCs Bitta DisGrace, Pimpses hAsha and SweetHardt Dowt have been melting faces all over the floor of the Scottish music scene with their big beats, heavy flows, and good vibes. 2018-19 saw The Honey Farm continue their slow burning global domination, notably with their inclusion in the List Hot 100; nomination in the Scottish Alternative Music Awards’ Best Hip-Hop category; and support slots for high-profile artists such as Ray Blk.
