About

We’re delighted that Hands Up For Trad’s annual #WorldPlayAStrathspeyDay is coming to Edinburgh Tradfest this year. This is a day when people all around the world record, video and upload themselves playing a strathspey to social media with the hashtag #WorldPlayAStrathspeyDay

Luckily for us this year that day is Saturday 6 May.

To celebrate there will be a concert at the Traverse Theatre to mark the occasion featuring four brilliant musicians – Rory Matheson(piano) and Graham Mackenzie,Madeleine Stewart and Adam Sutherland (fiddles). They will play a mix of trad strathspeys, reels, marches and the official strathspey written for the new king.

We are also looking for the audience to join us in a couple of sets of tunes at the end of the concert. We will be making music available to download for you to learn. Keep in touch via Hands Up For Trad onlineand remember to bring your instrument to the gig so you can take part in the grand finale.
