Edinburgh Tradfest: World Play A Strathspey Day 2023

We’re delighted that Hands Up For Trad’s annual #WorldPlayAStrathspeyDay is coming to Edinburgh Tradfest this year. This is a day when people all around the world record, video and upload themselves playing a strathspey to social media with the hashtag #WorldPlayAStrathspeyDay

Luckily for us this year that day is Saturday 6 May.

To celebrate there will be a concert at the Traverse Theatre to mark the occasion featuring four brilliant musicians – Rory Matheson(piano) and Graham Mackenzie,Madeleine Stewart and Adam Sutherland (fiddles). They will play a mix of trad strathspeys, reels, marches and the official strathspey written for the new king.

We are also looking for the audience to join us in a couple of sets of tunes at the end of the concert. We will be making music available to download for you to learn.
