Are you looking to tell better stories? Perhaps you've always wondered what it takes to keep people engaged?
In this new digital workshop series Michael Patrick and Oisín Kearney will guide you through the building blocks of structure to take your story to the next level. Having gathered their skills and knowledge from an array of workshops similar to this and know first-hand the struggle of reworking a script, they are here to divulge their techniques to creating a great story.
By breaking down the elements of ACTS, SCENES, TIME, PLACE, and the HERO’S JOURNEY, you'll be more equipped than ever before to put pen to paper and tell the world your story.
Each episode will be uploaded to YouTube (captioned) weekly and will be hosted on this page. There's no signup required, so check back over the next four weeks, from Wed 23 Nov, to catch the latest episode.

Writing partnership, Michael Patrick and Oisín Kearney are Traverse Theatre/IASH Playwrighting Fellows (2022). Within their writing partnership they have written for stage, radio and TV.
Former Abbey Theatre Commemoration Bursary recipients. Former members of BBC Writers’ Room Belfast Voices, Irish Theatre Institute’s Virtual Attic, Bewley’s Cafe Theatre New Writing initiative and The MAC Belfast’s Hatch and Scratch.
An Introduction to Structure

Act 1: Building the Start
In the second episode, Michael and Oisín go through the structure of act one and the initial steps in the hero's journey. This link will redirect you to YouTube.
Act 2: Building the Middle
In the third episode, Michael and Oisín go through the structure of act two including fun & games, the midpoint, things get serious, the worst point, and the dark night of the soul. This link will redirect you to YouTube.
Act 3: Building the End
