About

A young interracial couple whose marriage is on the verge of collapse have a life altering encounter with a mysterious stranger as they travel through The Great Hungarian Plain.

For Virág things are complicated. Her husband, Jake is one of the few people of colour in a country that is almost 100% white, and they seem to be going nowhere fast. To make matters worse, Bela an odd local, thinks he has a solution to all their problems.

Alföld is a dark comedy that explores themes of language, misogyny, politics, racism and what it takes to survive in Viktor Orbán’s illiberal democracy.
