Bottom has a plan, and one plan only: to get on stage.
“Ah hud a maist rare vision. Ah hud a dream. Ah’ll write a ballad ae this dream: it sal be cried Bottom's Dream. Because it disnae huv a bottom.”
Blending the text of A Midsummer Night’s Dream with original Scots-language poetry, this new spoken word performance by Martin O’Connor (Through the Shortbread Tin) follows Nick Bottom the Weaver’s journey to the stage. From industry to the arts, his clash with modern-day celebrity and what he'll need to sacrifice to achieve his dream.
A humorous and honest exploration of class, language, and ambition, Bottom’s Dream tests the rules about who belongs where, and how difficult it is to rise to the top when you are always the Bottom.
