Mark Thomas' Showtime from the Frontline - streaming on Tue 9 June

News 5 Jun 2020

After a hugely successful first foray into lockdown live-streaming with Bravo Figaro!, we're very excited to tell you that good friend of the Traverse and Festival stalwart Mark Thomas will be hosting a lockdown livestream of his 2018 show Showtime from the Frontline for one night only on Tue 9 June at 7.30pm.

Dodging cultural and literal bullets, Israeli incursions and religion, Mark Thomas and his team set out to run a comedy club for two nights in the Palestinian city of Jenin. Only to find it’s not so simple to celebrate freedom of speech in a place with so little freedom to begin with.

Jenin refugee camp is home to Jenin Freedom Theatre and to people with a wealth of stories to tell. Mark tells this story alongside two of its actors and aspiring comics, Faisal Abu Alhayjaa and Alaa Shehada.

The show will be bookended by a live introduction from Mark in his own home and after the show, he'll be joined by co-stars Faisal and Alaa for a Q&A session.

Admission to this unique performance is £5, 20% of which Mark will generously pass on to the Traverse when booked through the link below.
