Festival Head of Stage (fixed term)

The Traverse Theatre seeks an experienced Head of Stage from 13 July 2026 to 31 August 2026 to lead on get–ins, set fit ups and smooth turnaround of shows in Traverse 1 and Traverse 2 during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe period.

The Head of Stage will be the main point of contact with visiting companies in relation to their stage requirements, and will work with all visiting companies in the construction and dismantling of their scenery and any other technical components, and will also ensure that their department and any visitor comply with the requirements of the Theatre’s Health & Safety Policy.

This is a fairly physical role with a significant amount of lifting and carrying.

Experience of working in the technical department of a theatre is essential as is experience of rigging and building sets and knowledge of health & safety within theatres. We are looking for a team player with a positive, can-do attitude who can prioritise and delegate effectively and work to tight deadlines.

The working week will be 48 hours with one day off per week. Should you choose to agree to work in excess of 48 hours per week, overtime will be payable at single time. This choice is optional and you will not be asked to work more than 48 hours per week without your agreement. The role will run from 13 July 2026 to 31 August 2026. This role is not suitable for anyone with other festival commitments.
