Managed by a small team of theatre-lovers like you, the Traverse is powered by its audiences and supporters. Because of this, we rely on your generosity and direct 100% of your donations to keeping our lights up – and stages full.

The Traverse extends grateful thanks to all those who collaborate with and support our work, including those who prefer to remain anonymous.

Grant funders

The Traverse Theatre is funded by Creative Scotland and The City of Edinburgh Council. We have received additional support from the Scottish Government's Performing Arts Venue Relief Fund and Adapt and Thrive, part of the Scottish Government’s Community and Third Sector Recovery Programme and delivered in partnership by Firstport, Corra Foundation, SCVO, Just Enterprise, Community Enterprise and Social Investment Scotland.

The Traverse is part of the Theatre Partnership funded by the City of Edinburgh Council, alongside our partners The Royal Lyceum Theatre, Lung Ha, EPAD, and Capital Theatres.

Together we aim to positively and powerfully impact our city’s culture, and collectively work to:
- Connect Edinburgh-based artists and theatremakers to people and places, both establishing and growing networks,
- Develop the talent of local theatremakers through skills sharing, collaboration, and the creation of work,
- And showcase the work of Edinburgh-based artists on our stages and platforms year-round.
