About

“With their close interplay, the trio moves effortlessly outside the soundscape of the tradition but moves just as easily within it” – Lira Music Magazine

Northern Resonance is a Swedish folk trio that brings newly composed traditional music into a new soundscape.

Through their combination of viola d’amore, Hardanger fiddle and 12-string guitar, the trio allows Scandinavian folk music to meet explosive rhythms and refined, delicate arrangements. Deeply rooted in tradition yet unafraid to explore beyond it, Northern Resonance moves effortlessly between the familiar and the unexpected, expanding the boundaries of Nordic folk music.

All members are highly accomplished musicians with strong foundations in traditional music. With a close interplay that is rare to come across, the trio moves effortlessly outside the soundscape of the tradition but moves just as easily within it. The trio brings remarkable life to their tunes, inviting audiences into a rich and immersive musical world.

The trio quickly established themself on the Scandinavian folk scene with their self-titled debut album (2020), which was nominated for a Swedish Grammy. Since then, Northern Resonance has captivated audiences worldwide through extensive international touring. In 2026, the ensemble entered a new chapter with Albin Broberg on 12-string guitar, further expanding and deepening the group’s distinctive sound.
