Have a quick question regarding access, e-tickets, our opening hours, or what to do if you’ve lost your tickets? The answers to these questions (and many more) are in this handy FAQs page…

Before you arrive…

Am I entitled to any concessions?

We offer concessionary tickets for lots of different things. For example, if you have a disability and need to bring a companion along to make things easier, you can get a complimentary ticket for them.

We offer concessions for a range of different people:

  • Over 65s
  • Students and Under 30s
  • Disabled people (companions get a free ticket)
  • People receiving low income benefits
  • People part of the Scottish Society of Playwrights or with membership of other Entertainment Unions

Please check with one of the Sales & Welcome Team on 0131 228 1404 or boxoffice@traverse.co.uk if you’re unsure of what you are entitled to.

We also offer £1 tickets for those under 25 or receiving low income benefits. More information about who is entitled to a £1 ticket can be found here.

Please take proof of your concession eligibility with you when you attend the performance.

Can I reserve a ticket?

Yes! Tickets can be reserved by calling the box office number or emailing boxoffice@traverse.co.uk.

Tickets can be held without payment for 5 working days, or until 72 hours before the show. No reservations will be taken or held on the day of the performance.

I’ve brought luggage, can you store it in your cloakroom?

Please note that we don’t have a cloakroom and cannot store any bags or luggage.

For security reasons we can’t allow luggage and oversized bags into our auditoriums, or store any items for you.

Should you need them, left luggage facilities are available at Edinburgh Bus Station, Waverley Station and the National Museum of Scotland, or via Stasher.com.

Access…

I find stairs difficult, is there another way into the theatre?

Yes! We have a lift into the theatre and if you have any other access needs, please call us before your visit and we’ll be more than happy to help you out. If you have any questions at all, just ring our Sales & Welcome Team on 0131 228 1404 and we'll be able to give you more info.

Are your toilets accessible?

They are! We have adapted toilets on the bar level. We also have gender neutral toilets available and everyone is free to use the toilets that best reflect their gender identity.

Do you have BSL, audio described or captioned performances?

We try to provide BSL, audio described and captioned performances whenever possible. You can find the access listings at the Traverse here. Please visit www.accessscottishtheatre.com for up to date listings of all BSL, audio described or captioned performances around Scotland.

Common questions about tickets…

Do I need to print my e-ticket?

No! E-tickets can be shown and scanned on a mobile phone screen or other device, which is also better for the environment. There is no requirement to print it unless you personally find that easier - and if you don't have a smartphone or a printer, our Sales & Welcome Team can print your tickets for you.

I can't find my e-ticket in my inbox. Can you print it?

Our Sales and Welcome Team can look up your details and print your e-ticket for you. Of course, we would like to limit the number of tickets printed for environmental purposes, but not to worry if you can't find your ticket - we'll get you in.

Can you post me my ticket?

Unfortunately we can't post tickets, but you will be emailed e-tickets in PDF form and we are able to print them at Box Office for you to pick up.

I can't come to one of the shows I've booked, can I have a refund?

Unfortunately, all of our tickets are non-refundable. However, you can exchange your tickets for a different performance of the same show up to 24 hours before the performance you can't attend, if tickets are available, for a administration fee of £1 per ticket (up to a maximum of £5).

Food and drink…

I've booked A Play, A Pie and A Pint, when can I have my food and drink?

You are welcome to arrive up to an hour before the start of the show to eat your pie and have your pint. Please do not arrive earlier than one hour prior to the start time. You are also welcome to have your pie and pint after the show in the bar. We don't allow plates and cutlery into the theatre, so if you arrive just before the show starts, we recommend that you wait until after to have your pie and pint.

Can I bring drinks/food into the theatre?

We don’t allow any hot food or crisps in our theatre spaces, and we prefer if you don’t eat at all, as this can be quite distracting. You can bring drinks purchased at our bar in with you though, as long as you pop them in a plastic cup. All of our plastic cups are re-usable and we would appreciate if you returned them to the bar once you're finished rather than throwing them in the bin!

Is your bar open?

We've yet to re-open our bar on a full time basis however, it is open to ticket holders an hour prior to the start of a show, and then after the performance.

Dogs…

Can I bring my dog to the theatre?

We ❤️ dogs. They are more than welcome to hang out in the bar (as long as they have a human companion) but only guide dogs are allowed in our theatre spaces.
