'Look at me. I am waiting for my woman.

Look at my boldness

My butchness

My queerness.'

Dascha shares her love story. It's dizzying and it's dangerous. It's exhilarating and it's furious. It's a story about hope and resistance, the distances we travel, the risks we take and the lengths we go to when falling in love.

Written in response to Russian courts banning Moscow Pride celebrations in August 2012 for 100 years, We'll Meet in Moscow is a beautifully haunting and consuming monologue with sharp, shard-like lyricism that tears through the heart and lingers in the mind.

Playwright Natalie McGrath was a Writer on Attachment to the Traverse in 2019 after coming to our attention through our Open Submissions initiative. Our panel of readers championed her distinctly poetic voice and eye for creating urgent and intimate contemporary stories that centre the queer experience. Performed as a script-in-hand reading at Pride Plays in February 2020 (Shift Theatre in association with Traverse Theatre), the Traverse Artistic team worked in tandem with Natalie to develop this audio version of We'll Meet in Moscow, directed by Shilpa T-Hyland (Assistant Director: Crocodile Fever).

The Traverse Theatre is funded by Creative Scotland and The City of Edinburgh Council, with additional support from The Scottish Government Performing Arts Venues Relief Fund.
