Hot Cincinnati four-piece, The Tillers have been thumping their own distinctive style of string band-driven folk music for a decade, riding it all over the country and across the sea.
Four studio albums and one live record have won them praise as modern folk heroes on both sides of the Atlantic. Invigorating as it gets, they count many of their peers as fans. For instance, Iris Dement says: “I could sit and listen to them all night long!”
The Tillers have a broad sweep of influences. In the process, the live shows are exhilarating experiences. Musically, and wearing many different hats, their sound has proven to be the perfect fit for everything from traditional folk, Appalachian old-time, bluegrass and the crustier side of honky-tonk. They always rock the house and have shared the stage with a host of legendary names, ranging from Doc Watson, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Guy Clark, Country Joe McDonald, and Jerry Douglas to The Hackensaw Boys and The Carolina Chocolate Drops.
