Winning is important, but growing up is what really counts.
Join six quirky misfits at The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee – and maybe a few audience members – as they compete for the spelling crown in this heartfelt and hilarious Tony Award-winning smash-hit. The show revolves around a fictional spelling bee set in a geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Elementary in the USA. These unconventional adolescents who love spelling compete from different schools in the Bee with big hopes of winning and the contest is run by three equally quirky grown-ups. Packed with infectious songs by William Finn, witty dialogue by Rachel Sheinkin, and a few surprises throughout, this fast-paced, feel-good show is a joyous celebration of embracing your true self.
This amateur production is presented by Performing Arts Studio Scotland's Musical Theatre Students in arrangement with Music Theatre International.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is part of the Traverse's £1 Ticket Project.
