Ryan Young is a Scottish fiddle player working within the traditional music of Scotland.
His playing is noted for its distinctive tone and phrasing, with an approach that places melody and expression at music’s centre. He first came to wider attention with his debut album, produced by GRAMMY winner Jesse Lewis, and has since built an international profile through touring across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia.
A multi award-winning artist, Young has received multiple nominations at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards, most recently for Musician of the Year in 2025. His second album, Just a Second (2023), was widely praised, while his forthcoming third album—produced by and featuring Martin Hayes—marks a significant new chapter in his work.
For this performance, Young is joined by guitarist Louis Campbell (Sam Lee, Sam Sweeney). The duo setting offers a close and detailed exploration of the material, with audiences hearing selections from the new album alongside traditional repertoire.
Ryan Young is part of the Traverse's £1 Ticket Project.
