About

In a parallel Edinburgh, miracles are a fact of childhood.

Whether walking on water, feeding 5000 or surviving the desert to Fife, growing up is full of fantasy – and Joel is sick of it.

Almost 18, Joel has no time for such childish antics. Invested in getting his first job, all hell breaks loose when his brother Phineas runs away with world-famous performer, the Revel Prophet.

With the Work Apostles and Miracle Apostates at each other’s throats, the path is dangerous, but Joel’s Gods demand he and his friends recover Phineas. Setting out across the desert, how many friends will Joel still have by his journey’s end?

A surreal adventure of toxic friendship, the hurry to grow-up and the bushes who just want to burn.

In The Cult Of Work is part of the Traverse's £1 Tickets Project.
