'Brian Molley never wastes a note' – MOJO Magazine
The origins of jazz lie in lots of places, but one of those places is definitely Scotland. Glasgow’s Brian Molley Quartet present a new suite of music celebrating the fact that jazz is a lot more Scottish than we all think. Featuring Traditional Folk, Afro-Caribbean Groove, Gospel, Sea-Shanty and Fugue, this is exhilarating jazz performed by along established, world-travelled and multi award winning group of Scotland’s finest.
The first Scottish immigrants to travel to Canada and America shared their folk songs on their journeys, including a uniquely Scottish musical tradition known as call-and-response line-singing. This way of making music would become a core element in the development of Jazz and Popular Music and it's the foundation of BMQ’s celebration of the Scottish roots of Jazz.
Featuring Brian Molley (Saxophones), Tom Gibbs (Piano), David Bowden (Bass) and Stephen Henderson (Drums).
