    Chrysalis festival

Emergence is an opportunity to experience three exciting new performances by emerging theatre makers from across Scotland in the first stages of development.

Experience three 20-minute experimental performances, featuring work from Citizens Young Company, Performance Collective Stranraer and Lyceum Youth Theatre.

Jo Sharp & Lyceum Youth Theatre present

    Mr Blue Sky
    Devised by the Company

Directed by Jo Sharp (Winner of the Emergence Young Director Award)

    Let’s illuminate what 'happy' means.

Is happy a sunny day? Is it a box of chocolates or perhaps new shoes? Or is it more? Where does material happiness end and mental happiness start? And how do we make sure that we see our true worth?

Honest, uplifting and challenging, Mr Blue Sky explores mental health and happiness asking big questions we don’t know the answers to.

    Citizens Young Company presents

    Hard Times
Adapted from the novel by Charles Dickens

    Directed by Lauren Mitchell

Reason versus passion, certainty versus wonder, fact versus fancy. Can human beings really be as easily maintained as the machines that dominate an industrial revolution? The Citizens Theatre Young Co. adapts Dickens’ novel to see what happens to a society starved of imagination and thrust into harder times.

    Performance Collective Stranraer presents

    Remote Control
By Drew Taylor and the Company

    Directed by Drew Taylor

Remote Control is a new verbatim inspired production by Performance Collective Stranraer, about our home, Stranraer [that bit at the bottom of Scotland you've probably never been to]. If we are 'a product of our environment', what if that 'environment' isn’t that great? A production about searching for home, Charles Darwin, jumping off the pier and trying not to feel so lonely.

Performances will be followed by a post-show discussion allowing the audience to hear more from the companies and contribute their own thoughts and ideas on how each piece will develop.”

This performance is part of Chrysalis festival 2017
