Refunds and Exchanges
Tickets can only be refunded in the event of a show cancellation
or change to performance date and time. Tickets may be exchanged
within the same run of the same show, subject to availability. At
least 24 hours' notice must be given, and the original ticket
retuned to the Box Office. A fee of £1 per ticket applies, with a
maximum fee of £5 per exchange transaction.
We want to make sure as many people get to enjoy our shows as
possible so in the case of sold-out performances we run a returns
queue. Basically, people who have booked a ticket but can no longer
make it can return their ticket to us and we'll sell it on to
people in the returns queue. So, to make it as fair and efficient
as we can this is how it works:
- We add names to the returns list from 1 hour before the
performance (you must come in person to the Box Office to do
- Once your name's on the list you're free to do as you please
for 40 mins.
- Make sure you're back at the Box Office 20 mins before the show
starts as this is when we start working our way down the list.
- We'll shout your name twice and if you don't respond, we'll
move to the next person and your name goes to the bottom of the
- All tickets are sold on the returns queue are sold at full
- Some tickets sold on the returns queue are sold for cash
- If you've requested more tickets than become available (ie,
want 2, but only 1 comes up), you will be offered the 1 and must
commit to taking it or not taking it (it also won't be refunded if
you take it, but then can't get a second ticket). We cannot wait to
see if another comes up. If you decline it, you will keep
your place in the returns list, but the single ticket will be
offered to the next person in the meantime.
Latecomers may not be admitted. Please arrive in plenty of time
for the start of the performance.
Ticket Collection and Postage Fees
Tickets can be collected free of charge from the Box Office.
Alternatively, tickets can be posted at a cost of £1 per booking.
This service is available up to 10 days in advance of the
Standard Concessions are available for:
- Over 60s
- People with disabilities (Assistants accompanying people with
disabilities go free)
- Members of Entertainment Unions and the Scottish Society of
Under 30s / Student Concessions:
- Available to everyone under the age of 30 (proof of age
- Students (valid student ID required)
- Young Scot cardholders
- Unemployed (Proof of current Job Seekers Allowance or
Employment Support Allowance must be shown)
Exclusions or conditions may apply to all discounts. Please
check with the Box Office when booking.
Babes In Arms Policy
Under 2s will be admitted to children's shows but parents must
obtain a special ticket from the Box Office.
For all other shows, we kindly request patrons contact the Box
Office in advance to ascertain whether a performance is deemed to
be suitable for young babies. If considered to be the case, a
ticket will be issued with the understanding that parents sit near
an aisle and be prepared to leave the auditorium if their baby
becomes unsettled. The Traverse Theatre is a family friendly venue
and we are happy to assist parents wherever possible, but must also
consider our other patrons' enjoyment of the theatre, and ensure
they are not disrupted during performances.
Please note: Babes in Arms tickets are free of charge and will
permit under 2s to sit on the lap of a parent, with the exception
of children's shows aimed specifically at babies under 2, for which
there may be a ticket charge. If a parent wishes to have a separate
seat for their baby they must purchase a ticket accordingly.
The Traverse box office is unable to store items of luggage. If
you have items you wish to leave, we advise using the Left Luggage
facility at Waverley Station.
No large or oversized bags can be taken into the theatres or
stored in the building at any time.
