The Traverse is joining forces with Soho Theatre to host a new-writing workshop in conjunction with their Verity Bargate Award submissions.

This April we are looking forward to hosting a new-writing workshop alongside Soho Theatre for emerging playwrights to equip participants with the tools and inspiration to write a new play, encouraging them to take their first steps in playwriting. This workshop is designed to support writers in their application for the Verity Bargate Award, of which submissions open on Thu 11 April.

The Verity Bargate Award is Soho Theatre’s flagship playwrighting competition and is one of the longest-established playwrighting awards in the UK, guaranteeing the winning play a fully staged Main House production at Soho Theatre. Open to new and emerging UK and Irish writers, the Verity Bargate Award uncovers the best new plays and has launched the careers of some of Britain’s most established playwrights and screenwriters.

The Verity Bargate Award is open from Thursday 11 April until midday on Monday 17 June to new writers living in the UK or Ireland, who have had fewer than three professional productions. Find out more here.
