As we kick off our Spring season in style this January, we are proud to reveal more of the invigorating performances joining us later in the year, as part of our Summer 2024 season.
National Theatre of Scotland’s adaptation of Damien Barr’s critically-acclaimed memoir Maggie and Me makes its highly anticipated stop-off in Edinburgh as part of its Scottish tour. This darly witty memoir is adapted for stage by Barr himself alongside James Ley (Wilf for the Traverse), and directed by Suba Das.
Having been described as ‘breathtakingly intense’ (The Arts Desk) during TravFest23, Lie Low by Ciara Elizabeth Smythreturns to the Traverse ready to blow us away once more this June. Blue Raincoat Theatre Company travel from Sligo, Ireland in June withThe Last Pearl based on the ideas of environmentalist, James Lovelock.
This season as part of our A Play, A Pie and A Pint offering we are delighted to welcome back JACK by Liam Moffat which was originally developed through our Breakthrough Writers project in 2022/23. JACK will be directed by Traverse Artistic Director Gareth Nicholls.
Having joined us during our 2022 Spring season, Jack Docherty is back in Traverse 1 for three nights with his most recent piece David Bowie And Me: Parallel Lives.
At the start of May we look forward to welcoming back Framework Theatre with Louder: A Project For New Writers which will present four new plays from emerging writers of marginalised genders inspired by the theme Louder. Our friends at Strange Town Touring Company are remounting their production of Duncan Kidd’sStorm Lantern and are joining us for three public performances as part of their schools’ tour.
Last but certainly not least, Class Act On Tour continues its travels around Scotland with young people’s writing being showcased by professional theatre-makers in Mull, Inverness and Dumfries & Galloway, with support from An Tobar and Mull Theatre, Eden Court and Theatre Royal Dumfries.
