CATS Awards Winners 2013

CATS Winners Announced at the Traverse

Winners across 10 categories were been announced at yesterday's CATS Award (Critics' Awards for Theatre in Scotland) ceremony held here at the Traverse Theatre, and we're DELIGHTED that Rob Drummond's Quiz Show won the much coveted Best New Play category.

Presented by Scottish theatre critics and guest presenter playwright John Byrne, the awards celebrate achievement and innovation in Scottish theatre.

A special CATS Whiskers Award was presented to founding Artistic Director of the National Theatre of Scotland, Vicky Featherstone, for her outstanding contribution to the development of Scottish theatre.

Greg Sinclair and the macrobert's production of Sonata for a Man and a Boy was awarded Best Show for Children and Young People, whilst Gail Sneddon (concept and video), Rachana Jadhav (set), Karsten Tinapp (lighting) and Kevin Pollard (costume) took home the award for Best Design for their work on Ménage à Trois, National Theatre of Scotland in partnership with Claire Cunningham and Gail Sneddon.

Perth Theatre and Lyric Theatre Belfast's co-production of Conor McPherson's The Seafarer earned two awards, presenting its cast with a Best Ensemble Award and its director, Rachel O'Riordan with the Best Director Award.
