Black Beauty nominated for Five CATS Awards

Ya Beauty! The CATS Awards shortlist is out!

In what has been a formidable year for Scottish theatre, the Traverse features alongside the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Dundee Rep Theatre Company, Tron Theatre, Citizens' Theatre, and many more in this year's shortlist, in which 22 productions garnered nominations. 

Following a critically acclaimed run in Edinburgh, Black Beauty canters onto the Critics Awards for Theatre in Scotland (CATS) shortlist with five nominations. The Traverse Theatre Company and Red Bridge Arts co-production blends storytelling, music and puppetry, for a vibrant re-telling of Black Beauty which was a huge hit with press and families alike during its Christmas run at the Traverse and subsequent Scottish tour. 

Black Beauty has been shortlisted for; 

BEST DIRECTOR:
Ian Cameron, Andy Cannon, Andy Manley and Shona Reppe, Black Beauty, Red Bridge and Traverse Theatre Company   

BEST DESIGN:
Shona Reppe (designer) and Simon Wilkinson (lighting designer), Black Beauty, Red Bridge and Traverse Theatre Company 

BEST PRODUCTION FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE:
Black Beauty, Red Bridge and Traverse Theatre Company

BEST NEW PLAY:
Andy Cannon, Andy Manley and Shona Reppe, Black Beauty, Red Bridge and Traverse Theatre Company 

BEST PRODUCTION:
Black Beauty, Red Bridge and Traverse Theatre Company
