Programme & Producing Manager
JobsThe Traverse Theatre is currently looking for an experienced and pro-active Programme & Producing Manager to lead our team in the planning and delivery approach to our programme and artistic activities.
Key Responsibilities include:
- To lead on all the planning activity for the Programme and Producing department, ensuring robust and achievable plans are prepared that assess and manage risk.
- To develop and deliver programme planning and delivery processes for the organisation that have ‘buy-in’ across teams to ensure projects and programmes are planned and delivered to a high standard and that resources are deployed efficiently and within capacity.
- To work closely with Programme and Producing Team and the Head of Production in the planning and delivery of activities that meet objectives within available capacity.
- To support the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer with the reporting requirements of the organisation, including but not limited to Creative Scotland.
- To develop and deliver evaluation processes for the organisation that have ‘buy-in’ across teams to ensure projects and programmes are appropriately evaluated in order to meet reporting requirements, but also to inform improvements.
Skills & Competencies include:
- Drive and build strategic programming relationships with Companies, Artists and Co-producers, nationally and internationally.
- Work with the team to deliver a sustainable and ambitious touring agenda, new media opportunities and future life for Traverse Theatre works.
- Deliver for and co-develop a business plan that upholds the Traverse’s values through programme and audience development.
- As part of the Senior Management Team, deliver a creatively ambitious programme that is financially sustainable.
- Support the Traverse in its ongoing organisational development.
- Champion the Traverse’s place in the Scottish, UK and international theatre landscape.
Candidate Criteria include:
- Significant team management experience in the arts and cultural sector.
- Proven ability to plan, produce and deliver projects to a high standard and on budget.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Proven budgetary skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, influence and advocate.
- Experienced in the assessment and management of risk.
- Demonstrable understanding of the funding landscape and reporting requirements.
- Demonstrable understanding of the local and national theatre sector.
- Significant experience of working with artists to realise ideas.

Working hours: 40 hours per week, however it may be necessary to work beyond this to fulfil the requirements of the role.
