Class Act

Class Act

Class Act gave me a real opportunity to explore my writing skills and has made me much more confident in my abilities. It was great seeing it performed and the positive response was overwhelming.

Class Act is the Traverse Theatre's flagship education project, challenging senior pupils from across Edinburgh to become playwrights; creating brand new scripts to be premiered
on the Traverse stage.

Since the project began in 1990, Class Act has helped over fourteen hundred young people in over 70 schools write 816 plays.

Class Act 2016 saw five acclaimed professional playwrights - Clare Duffy, Lewis Hetherington, John McCann, Nicola McCartney and Isabel Wright - working with pupils from Craigmount High School, Firrhill High School, Holy Rood High School, Trinity Academy and St Augustine's RC High School.

The project has involved playwrights such as Stef Smith, David Greig, Nicola McCartney, Douglas Maxwell and Gregory Burke. The plays have been brought to life by actors including Molly Innes, Colin McCredie, Kevin McKidd, Ryan Fletcher, John Kazek, Cora Bissett and Katrina Bryan.

in 2016 the Traverse Theatre celebrated 25 glittering years of bringing young peoples' voices to the stage with Class Act Silver. Watch the video of the project, here
