Words Words Words

Words Words Words

Words, Words, Words is our open submission scratch event where we give writers the opportunity to have their latest work read by actors in front of an audience, and directors the opportunity to develop work with a writer they might not otherwise work with.

This Spring Words, Words, Words will return with our Channel 4 Playwright in Residence Morna Pearson and our Associate Director Emma Callander selecting 6 scripts of 5 - 10 minutes in length to be read on the night of Tuesday 20th May. Writers will then be paired with a selected member of our Directors Programme to develop their scripts and will receive a short rehearsal and script in hand performance with professional actors.

As it is our last Words event before September 2014 we are looking for entries of short scripts based around the themes of independence. Looking to the future, we'll be searching for scripts around the themes of decision making, unions, separation, nationhood, change and independence - it's up to you. They can be short plays or an extract of something you are working on at the moment. The work can be brand new or in development - but the emphasis is on getting work to the stage for the very first time.

Please note that if you are selected you will be required to attend a rehearsal and performance at the Traverse on Tuesday 20 May.

WRITERS: To submit your script please visit https://traverse.submittable.com/submit or email catherine.makin@traverse.co.uk for more information. Submissions will close at midnight on Sunday 27th April.

DIRECTORS: Members of the Traverse Directors Programme will be sent information on how to apply for Words over the next few weeks. If you would like to join the Directors Programme please email sunniva.ramsay@traverse.co.uk  for details.
