The international award-winning Dogstar Theatre Company returns
to its roots with a revival of one of its earliest productions. A
potent blend of history, drama, music and humour.
Captain Simon Fraser attempts to win fame by publishing
his Highland music. In order to gain the favour of elitist Regency
society he is compelled to remove the Gaelic verses, often of
Jacobite and virulently anti-Royal sentiment, presenting his music
instead as refined chamber pieces. Meeting Captain Fraser in
advanced age he is visited by the ghosts and dreams dwelling within
the pages of his collection, transported among the legends of the
music and back through his own turbulent existence.
The Captain's Collection features four celebrated
performers, including the sublime singing of Alyth McCormack, 2009
Scottish Critics' Best Actor Matthew Zajac and the beautiful
playing of two of Scotland's finest traditional musicians, Jonny
Hardie and Ingrid Henderson.
