The
Bar Café is not the average theatre bar. It is one of Edinburgh's
busiest bars with a great atmosphere fuelled by lots of cheap booze
and delicious food served all day.
The money earned by the Bar Café is vital to the theatre and
helps finance productions and the general running of the building.
Simply one of the best bars in Britain (The Observer), the
Bar Café was worn out by five years of year round drinking,
eating and theatrical events and was refurbished in January 1998 by
Edinburgh architects Morgan McDonnell.
As
well as income from the Bar Café, the Traverse relies on sponsorship
for additional income. All our sponsors are credited on a board in
the bar, including the seat sponsors who have their personal messages
displayed there.
