NQR*

Performing two new works, SDT, Scotland’s national contemporary dance company makes a welcome return to the Traverse with NQR* and The Life and Times of Girl A. Created by Scottish Dance Theatre’s Artistic Director Janet Smith, Caroline Bowditch and Marc Brew, NQR* is a chance to look at and think about difference, differently. It examines our irrepressible eccentricities that defy all our attempts to fit into the mold.

*Not Quite Right Acronym formally used in medical records to describe unexplained difference.

Ben Duke’s The Life and Times of Girl A tells the story of a woman trying to tell us something. What she needs is a film crew and a financier, what she’s got is a stage and some dancers. Duke’s work highlights those moments we all have of emotional and financial crisis – when all we need is to use less to say more.
