Traverse Theatre Company / Imaginate – Writers Event
Combining the Traverse’s experience in supporting writers and Imaginate’s commitment to outstanding work for young people, we are delighted to present a workshop for writers interested in learning more about creating work for young audiences.
The workshop, run by Imaginate’s new Writer in Residence, Rob Evans, will give participants an opportunity to develop your own writing practice for and explore the unique and exciting challenges of creating new work for children and young people.
Rob Evans is a writer and devisor living in Glasgow. His work for young people includes Pobby and Dingan, Pondlife and Kappa for Catherine Wheels Theatre Company, Pinocchio for Northampton Royal and The Night Before Christmas for the MacRobert Theatre. He has worked extensively with teenagers for the Traverse Theatre's Class Act project and he is currently planning The Dark, a new show for young teenagers to be researched as part of his role as writer in residence for Imaginate in 2010. Rob is currently under commission to the Traverse Theatre, Catherine Wheels and Radio 4. Kappa and Pondlife will be performed as part of the Imaginate festival in May 2010.
Writers attending the workshop can also apply to attend the Imaginate Festival as a delegate, further information available from Alice McGrath, Development Director, Imaginate, email: alice@imaginate.org.uk t: 0131 225 8050.
