LES AMOUREUX (The Lovers)

In a faded, tattered once wedding dress, the Countess is a reluctant huntress. Neither alive nor dead, she is condemned forever to slake a thirst that will not let her rest. She turns over a tarot card. For the first time ever, she has drawn Les Amoureux.

Company Chordelia’s production of Les Amoureux is based around Angela Carter’s short story The Lady of The House of Love. Carter’s incredible gothic imagery has inspired this visceral, theatrical story of love, life and death which combines dance and physical theatre with opera.

A musical mix of Chopin, Fauré, Shostakovich, Philip Glass and others feeds into the accompanying score.
