STOP PRESS - We are delighted to announce that there will be a post show discussion following the performance of Lockerbie 103 by The Ashton Group on Wednesday 12 March.
This will involve Rachel Ashton (from The Ashton Group) and John Ashton (co-writer of Cover-Up Of Convenience, the Hidden Scandal of Lockerbie).
On the 21st December 1988 Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over Lockerbie killing 270 people… 13 years later a young American tourist arrives in town. Staying in a remote Dumfriesshire B & B he encounters a variety of characters – each one having been deeply affected by the outrage. As their stories unfold we discover that first appearances count for very little when the truth is on trial. Lockerbie 103 is both a murder mystery and a political thriller. With compassion and humour the play makes a powerful and disturbing argument that the Lockerbie trial at Camp Zeist saw the wrong people in the dock and that the real culprits were never brought to justice.
Written by Des Dillon (International Playwriting Festival Award Winner, 2001; River City; Itchycooblue) and produced by Barrow’s Ashton Group (Cold) in association with pioneering Asian theatre company Tara Arts, Lockerbie 103 is a rare and remarkable collaboration between theatre makers and journalists.
