Entrenched in the vaults of a disused factory four members of a teenage band meet to rehearse. Deep, dark and highly oppressive Purple is a subtle but revealing journey of unspoken tension, hidden emotion and adolescent rivalry.

From the writer and adapter of the highly acclaimed The Girl on the Sofa – as seen at the Edinburgh International Festival 2002 – LyT presents the Scottish premiere of Purple as part of Shell Connections 2003, a nationwide celebration of youth theatre administered by the National Theatre. Purple has an approximate running time of 50 minutes and is not suitable for young children.

LYT ARE THE YOUTH THEATRE OF THE ROYAL LYCEUM THEATRE COMPANY AND ARE SUPPORTED BY THE SCOTTISH ARTS COUNCIL, THE SCOTTISH ARTS COUNCIL NATIONAL LOTTERY FUND, CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL, FOUNDATION FOR SPORT AND THE ARTS, CARNEGIE UNITED KINGDOM TRUST AND JK YOUNG ENDOWMENT FUND.

Visit the Lyceum's own website and find out more about their Youth Theatre at www.lyceum.org.uk.
