Read a feature length interview with Linda Marlowe about the development of Believe on The Scotsman's website at http://www.edinburgh-festivals.com/reviews.cfm?id=1227562007&genre=Theatre.

The Old Testament God is a God of war. And war is a man’s game. But what of the women? Believe is a contemporary re-imagining of four remarkable women’s tales of wartime – traitor, widow, warrior, martyr - and asks what does it mean to have faith in today’s world?

“The blade of his spear reflected the moon... Between his helmet and his garments I saw the flesh of his neck. Flesh - spear - moonlight. God was flirting with me.”

To a modern sensibility, stories from the Bible may seem archaic. But dig beneath the surface and you’ll find tales that are shocking even by today’s sensationalist tabloid standards.

Linda Marlowe is one of the UK’s leading actresses. Her electrifying and critically acclaimed solo shows include the legendary Berkoff’s Women and have played seasons in London, New York and worldwide. This thrilling and explosive new play reunites her with playwright Matthew Hurt and Scottish director Gavin Marshall with whom she collaborated on the Edinburgh 2003 hit No Fear!

Developed with The Nightingale Theatre and sponsored by Arts Council England.

(The Independent)

Marlowe is a consummate actress; gorgeous to look at, slinky and sexy, sensual and impassioned, breathtakingly versatile. A veritable tour de force.
