FRINGE FIRST AWARD WINNER 2006

It’s Henry’s last day at work. Surrounded by thousands of discarded or undelivered compilation tapes he will start, at last, to listen. And in the tapes he’ll find unheard stories, stories about himself, about people he knows. About everything.

A new show by Daniel Kitson about memory, hope and a man’s last day in a job that has never existed.

Each of the stories is beautifully written and told, in the understated, earthy, retro-British style Kitson has made his own; his skill as a performer is absolutely formidable, an object lesson in unforced vocal skill, and depth of rapport with the audience... he represents and inhabits that place where no-one is cool, sussed, glamorous and sorted, and everyone is struggling, somewhere between absurdity and pathos, to put together a life less barren, and more fulfilled.
