E-FLYER
Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse have also produced an e-flyer for Unprotected. View it online by visiting http://everymantheatre.e-flyers.org.uk.

It could be anyone’s daughter…

Unprotected had its world premiere at the Liverpool Everyman in March 2006 to such local and national acclaim that it demanded a wider audience. This deeply moving and resonant piece of verbatim theatre tackles the contentious issue of Liverpool’s plans for a managed zone for street sex workers.

Four writers - Esther Wilson, John Fay, Tony Green & Lizzie Nunnery - researched all viewpoints, in what is now a national debate for cities including Edinburgh; allowing the real people involved to speak for themselves. This courageous and vital piece of theatre seeks to find the humanity in all these experiences, turning headlines into human stories.

As Liverpool prepares to be European Capital of Culture in 2008, the Everyman and Playhouse have returned to producing on a major scale reclaiming their place on the national stage and generating an energy that has attracted acclaim and awards. Unprotected is a powerful example of the new generation of Liverpool writing which has been at the heart of this renaissance.
