WITHOUT A TRACE tells the true story of Maria Paradies, a brilliant blind pianist for whom Mozart composed a piano concerto. Various prestigious doctors in Vienna attempted to cure her of her blindness. One of them, the maverick Franz Mesmer, succeeded in doing so for a brief period, during which she lost her ability to play the piano. In seeking to normalise her, the medical establishment disabled her. When Maria regained her blindness, she recovered her artistry.

SOUNDS OF PROGRESS, one of Scotland’s leading music theatre companies, joins forces with award winning American writer Carol K Mack and leading British theatre artists to take you on a journey of love, trust, betrayal, despair and self discovery.
